Unpopular opinion: I used to think mobile check deposit was a total hassle

For the longest time, I'd drive 15 minutes to my bank's branch in Springfield just to drop off a check. My buddy kept telling me to try the app, but I figured it would mess up or take forever. Then last month, I got a check from a client and it was pouring rain, so I gave it a shot. I mean, it took maybe 2 minutes total, and the money was there the next morning. Has anyone else had a client payment clear faster than expected using their phone?

Yeah, the "total hassle" thing hits home. I was the same way, convinced I needed the perfect lighting and a steady hand or it would fail. My first attempt, I took like twelve pictures because my thumb was in the corner every time. Felt like a real genius. Now it's just second nature, and that surprise when it clears fast is the best.

Remember when we all had to scan documents at the library? I'd be there sweating, trying to flatten some old book on the glass without breaking the spine, and the copy would come out with a weird shadow or cut off half the text. Felt like you needed a degree in machine whispering. Now my phone just eats a page and spits out a PDF, it's wild how that changed.

And simon nailed it about the thumb thing, I swear I redid my first deposit like five times cause I couldn't stop covering the barcode. But now I just lay it flat on the kitchen counter and it works every time, even with that ugly overhead light. Makes you wonder what else we're overcomplicating that's already this easy.
