Wait, don't you mean the clipper just stopped working in the middle of the cut... not really "burned out" unless you actually saw smoke or smelled something hot? Usually it's just a loose wire or the blade got too tight and locked up the motor. I keep a spare Wahl 5-star plugged in and ready to go for exactly this reason, saved me more times than I can count.

Three times last month I had a tool just die in my hands... my trimmer at home, the vacuum at work, and my car key fob. It's always the middle of something important too, never when you're just sitting around. I think there's a rule of the universe that stuff only breaks when you're already running late or have a line of people waiting. It's like the machines know when you need them most and pick that exact second to quit. That's why I always keep a backup everything now... learned that lesson the hard way way too many times.

Oh man, you are speaking my language (and my nightmares). Had my leaf blower die right as I was in the home stretch of a huge cleanup last fall. It's like they can smell your urgency, I swear. I'm with you on the backup everything approach, I've got a second pair of clippers and an extra battery charger just sitting there waiting for the inevitable.
