Found a trick for blending fades with a half guard
I was struggling for weeks getting that harsh line to disappear when going from a 2 to a 1 on top, tried everything. Then I watched a video from a barber in Chicago who said to use the half guard with the lever open and slowly close it as you go down. Has anyone else tried opening the lever mid-cut to soften the blend instead of using clipper over comb?

Oh man, that's genius actually. I've been fighting with that same line forever and never thought to mess with the lever mid-cut like that.

Nah, I gotta disagree with this one. Messing with the lever mid-cut just sounds like a good way to mess up your whole fade if you don't have steady hands. Clipper over comb takes a little practice but it's way more reliable for blending out that line without guessing.
