Had to pick between a cheaper clipper and the higher end model, went with the pricey one

Tbh I was stuck deciding between the Wahl Senior and the Babyliss Pro Gold FX for like 3 weeks. My old clippers were dying mid haircut, so I needed something fast. The Wahl was $120 and the Babyliss was $200, so I almost went cheap. But a buddy who's been cutting for 15 years told me 'just get the one that doesn't fight you on bulk removal.' So I dropped the extra cash on the Babyliss and man, it's way smoother on thick hair. No pulling, no bogging down, even on dry curly stuff. My edges are coming out way cleaner now, and I can zip through a fade in half the time. Has anyone else made the jump and regretted spending less?

Read somewhere that the average person spends way more in the long run buying cheap replacements than just paying for quality once. Sounds like you dodged that trap.

Wait, isn't it funny how that works with basically everything in life though? I've noticed people who buy the bargain version of something usually end up buying the expensive one later anyway, so they actually spend more in the long run. That's why I always tell guys to just skip the middle ground and get the tool they actually want from the start. You gotta think about how much time and frustration you'll save, not just the dollar amount. Sounds like you made the smart call, even if it hurt the wallet at first.
