Old barber at my shop told me to stop using hot water on my clippers

I was rinsing my Oster 76s under hot water for years thinking it helped clean them better. He said that warps the blades and ruins the temper. Loosened up a set of adjustables last night with cold water and a little dish soap and they cut way smoother today. Anybody else ever get bad advice from a senior barber?

Hot water'll wreck the temper every time.

Question whether it's really that big of a deal. I've run hot water over plenty of tempered glass stuff and never had any issues. Maybe if you're dumping boiling water straight from the kettle onto a cold glass, but normal hot tap water? Come on.
