Saw a guy at a barbershop expo in Dallas use thinning shears on dry hair
I was at the Texas Barber Convention last weekend and watched this older barber finish a skin fade with thinning shears on dry hair instead of a clipper. He explained it removes bulk without creating harsh lines, which is the opposite of what I learned in school. Has anyone else tried this method or am I just late to the party?

Man, Seamlessly overthinking? Not at all. I gotta side with the post on this one. @schmidt.amy, I used to think the same way until I saw a guy in San Antonio do it and tried it myself. Thinning shears on dry hair after a fade is a total game changer for blending in coarse texture without accidentally pushing the fade line up. It just softens everything in a way a clipper can't without risking those little divots or tracks. I had a client with really thick, wavy hair and it was the only way I could get the top to flow into the fade without leaving a visible step. Give it a shot on your next customer with stubborn hair, you might be surprised.
