That $250 clipper sharpening kit was a waste for me

I bought one of those fancy sharpening systems to keep my clippers cutting like new. Figured I'd save money over time. After 4 months and three messed up blade sets, I realize I'm not a sharpener. The cheap local guy who does it for $15 a blade gets them sharper than I ever did. My cuts went to heck in that stretch, clients noticed. Wish I'd just stuck with sending them out. Anyone else tried this and ended up back at the pro sharpener?
