The clipper guard slipped mid fade and I almost panicked, here is what saved me
Last Saturday at my shop on 5th Street I was 40 minutes into a skin fade on a regular when my number 1 guard popped loose and took a chunk out of the side. I froze for a second, then instead of trying to hide it with the trimmer I stopped and talked to the guy straight. I told him what happened and offered to blend the whole side down to a shorter guard for free, and he just shrugged and said his hair grows fast anyway. It ended up looking cleaner than the original plan and he booked his next cut before he left. Has anyone else had a guard slip like that, and do you keep spare guards on the rack or just learn to work around it?
Stopping mid fade to confess makes you look unsure, most guys would rather you just fix it quiet and keep the flow going since they're paying for confidence. Keeping spare guards on the rack is just asking for the same slip to happen twice, learn to feel the cut with your hands instead.
