Why would you want a hot towel for your face when you're getting a haircut? I feel like the heat just opens up your pores and makes your skin greasier right after you leave the shop. A cold towel after the cut actually makes way more sense to close things up and tighten your skin.

Man, "close things up and tighten your skin" - you make a haircut sound like a skincare routine from hell. I half expected you to say you need a toner and moisturizer after the hot towel phase. Look, I get the science, but honestly, who is walking out of a barbershop and immediately sprinting to a grease pit? If you're that worried about oily skin after a hot towel, you might want to rethink your post-cut plans, my friend. Cold towel after a cut sounds like you're trying to wake yourself up from a coma, not relax after a trim. Maybe just skip the whole towel thing and ask for a nice paper fan instead.
