Garage sale prices have doubled since 2015 in my neck of the woods

I used to grab hardcovers for 25 cents at weekend sales outside Akron, but now most folks want $2 or $3 for the same beat-up copy of a 2005 bestseller. Saw a lady last Saturday pricing a water-stained paperback at $4 and she actually sold it before noon to some tourist. Anyone else noticing this jump at regular neighborhood sales, or is it just my area getting too hip for cheap books?

Two bucks for a beat up paperback still buys you hours of entertainment, cheaper than a movie ticket or a six pack. Garage salers have been watching too many flipping shows and think everything they own is gold now. But people have been overpricing junk at yard sales since forever, and it always comes down before the day ends. The tourist buying that wet book at $4 just means she'll have the same luck selling it next year. Price tags go up when gas goes up, same as everything else. Not saying it's not real, just saying it's not worth losing sleep over.
