I finally stopped side-eyeing people who buy books at full price

I was talking to a lady at the Half Price Books on Bardstown Road last Saturday. She said she only buys new releases from Barnes and Noble because she likes the smell and the crisp pages. At first I thought she was crazy dropping $28 on a hardcover, but then she pointed out she doesn't spend hours digging through bins like I do. Made me wonder if I'm just cheap or if the thrill of the hunt is actually a time tax. Anybody else ever feel like you're missing out by always waiting for the deal?

Man, I used to be the same way... always waiting for the clearance rack or the used book store. Then I realized I was spending twenty minutes digging through a pile of old Tom Clancy novels just to save six bucks. I finally broke down and bought a new release at full price last year and honestly, the feeling of cracking it open fresh without having to wipe someone else's coffee ring off the cover was worth it. Now I buy maybe one or two new books a year and just hit the library for the rest.
