Library sale price stickers ruined a rare first edition for me
Last month at the big Friends of the Library sale in Denton, I spotted a 1960s sci-fi novel with a cool cover. The price tag was 50 cents, so I grabbed it without flipping through. Later I found the original owner's name inside, plus a date from 1968. But the library had slapped a bright orange sticker right over the title page and it peeled off half the paper. Now I always check the inside pages before buying anything and I carry a little heat gun to soften stickers gently. Anyone else ruined a book by trying to remove a stubborn price tag?

The heat gun thing seems like a lot of work for a 50 cent find, and honestly, that sticker is part of the book's story now. Libraries slap those on everything, so you'd pass on a ton of gems if you skip anything with a tag. Just leave the sticker on next time and enjoy the book for what it is, a cheap read with a little history.
