That 25 cent library sale encyclopedia ate my whole afternoon

Picked up a 1978 World Book set for 25 cents a volume at the library's annual sale last Saturday, thought it was a fun vintage score. Spent 4 hours just reading about old tech predictions and cold war stuff, now my to-read pile is buried under it. Anyone else get sucked into old reference books and regret the time, or is it just me? lmao

Grabbed a 1969 Britannica from a garage sale last month for five bucks and lost a whole Sunday night flipping through the moon landing coverage and old car ads. The way they talked about computers taking up entire rooms and predicting the year 2000 was hilarious, but also kind of eerie how some stuff was dead on. Ended up reading about obsolete medical treatments and weird fashion trends until 2AM, didnt get a damn thing done the next day. Totally worth the sore neck and wasted hours though, those books are time machines.
