The complete works of Shakespeare that turned out to be a Cheez-Its cookbook
Last Saturday at a garage sale in Springfield, I got all excited when I saw a set of vintage leather books with gold lettering. The lady selling them said they were her late husband's prized collection. Paid $5 for the whole set, got home, and opened the first one to find it was actually a cookbook from 1987 called 'Cheese Snacks for Every Occasion' with the Shakespeare cover glued on. Anyone else ever get tricked by a fake book facade at a sale?

Oh man, I used to totally roll my eyes at people who said you gotta be careful at garage sales. I thought they were just being paranoid or something. But then last year I grabbed a set of what looked like old encyclopedias with fancy covers. Turned out to be hollowed out boxes with a single can of beans inside. So yeah, I get it now, these book scams are way more common than I ever believed. The Cheez-Its cookbook thing is wild though, that's actually kind of clever in a bad way. At least you got a funny story out of it.
