Why does nobody talk about wrapping the spoon handle in a wet paper towel before you bend it
I've been wrecking spoons for about two years now and always snapped them right at the neck where the bowl meets the handle. Bought a big bag of 50 cheap ones from a dollar store in Tacoma and figured I'd just keep breaking them until something clicked. Then a guy at a flea market booth saw me struggling with one and said to soak a paper towel, wrap it tight around that weak spot, and give it about 30 seconds. I tried it that night and the same spoon that snapped on me twice bent clean into a U shape with zero cracks. The wet towel keeps the metal from heating up and getting brittle at the thin part, or at least that's how he explained it. I've done it on 12 spoons since and only lost one, which is way better than my old record of like 4 out of every 5. Has anyone else messed with the wet wrap thing, and does it work on forks too or is that a different animal?
