Debate: Should you grease pedal threads or use threadlocker? I've seen both cause issues.

Had a customer come in last week with a stripped crank arm from a pedal that seized up with threadlocker, but two days before that another guy swore his pedals kept backing out without it. Which camp are you in and what's your reasoning?

Dont you think a dab of grease is just asking for it to back off on a long ride?

Man, I feel you on this one. It's such a toss up and nobody wins when things go wrong. That stripped crank arm must have been a headache to fix, I hate dealing with that kind of mess. Grease always seems like the safer bet to me because at least you can get the pedal off later if you need to. A little blue Loctite on the threads can work but people always overdo it and that's when the real trouble starts.
