Finally caved and tried wax chain lube after years of using oil

I was super skeptical about wax based lube because I figured it would just wash off in the rain. But after a 40 mile ride in wet conditions last week my chain was still quiet and clean, no black gunk everywhere. Has anyone else switched and found it actually holds up better than they thought?

Your buddy might have had bad luck with the application or maybe a different brand, because in my experience the wax needs a really clean chain first to bond right. A lot of people skip that step and then blame the lube, but mine has been solid through all the slop so far.

Wax lube in the rain... sounds like a risk I wouldn't take, honestly. My buddy tried it and his chain started squeaking halfway through a wet ride, so maybe you just got lucky. If it works for you that's cool, but I'll stick with my oil until I see more proof.
