Finally got the hang of setting up a tubeless tire without the mess

For years I'd fight with the tire bead and use a whole can of sealant, making a huge sticky mess in my garage. Then a mechanic in Tucson showed me to use a little soapy water on the bead and a fast shot from my floor pump, which worked first try last week. What's your go-to trick for getting that last bit of bead to seat without a compressor?

Oh man, that just reminds me of the time I tried to fix a wobbly ceiling fan with a belt. It worked for about twenty minutes before the whole thing came down. I was left holding a leather strap and covered in dust. Sometimes a shortcut is just a longer, weirder way to break your stuff.
