I finally switched to tubeless after fighting with tubes for way too long

Last week I swapped my old wheels over to a tubeless setup from Stans, after fighting with pinch flats for months on my commuter in Austin. I used to think tubeless was just for mountain guys, but my buddy at the shop said it's way better for road stuff too if you're tired of patching tubes on the curb. I'm still on the fence about sealant drying out though, because I had a valve clog up after only two weeks. Has anyone else had issues with sealant chunks in the valve, or am I just using too much of it?

My first tubeless setup I put so much sealant in it looked like a glittery crime scene when I took the tire off, so yeah, you're probably overdoing it.

Ran into my buddy Dave at the bike rack last month and he was cussing up a storm because his valve got completely jammed with dried sealant. He had the same setup as you - Stans stuff on his commuter - and he was putting in way too much, like half a bottle per tire. Took him twenty minutes to dig the gunk out with a paperclip, and he said the tire was still holding air fine even after losing all that sealant. Now he just pours in maybe two ounces and checks it every couple months, no problems since. So yeah, you're probably being a little generous with the pour, happens to everyone on the first try.
