I was dead set against tubeless tires for 3 years until I had no choice

I used to swap tubes on my mountain bike every few weekends in the gravel pits around here. Then I got five punctures in two months on a new set of tires and my buddy at the shop said just go tubeless or keep patching. I finally caved and set them up with some Stan's sealant and a floor pump. It has been 9 months and I have not touched a single flat on the trail. The initial mess of installation was annoying but the ride feels smoother now too. Has anyone else been stubborn about this and later changed their mind?

Half a pound per wheel? That is way more than I would have guessed for that kind of swap. Makes me wish I had weighed my old setup before I tossed the tubes.

Consider how much tire sealant weighs compared to a tube and two patches. I saved over half a pound per wheel switching to tubeless, which made climbing feel way easier on my hardtail. That weight loss alone was worth the messy install for me.
