Just realized most people grease the wrong part of a pedal thread

I see it all the time at the shop - folks grease the whole pedal spindle instead of just the threads near the crank arm. It causes the pedal to spin too easy and can loosen up after 50 miles; has anyone else noticed this with newer riders?

Grease on seatpost threads is a classic facepalm move. @schmidt.amy your buddy probably learned the hard way about slipping saddles. Teflon tape or anti-seize is where it's at for that job.
