Old shop guy told me to stop using spray lube on chains... he was right

Started working at a shop back in 2017 and the head mechanic kept yelling at me to use wax drip lube instead of that spray on stuff. I thought he was just being a grumpy old man. After about 6 months i noticed his bikes always shifted better and his chains lasted way longer. Finally switched to Squirt wax lube last year and my drivetrain is going on 2000 miles without needing a new chain. Did any of you guys get bad advice from a veteran mechanic that you still follow today?

I was a diehard spray lube guy for years. Your post finally got me to switch to wax drip and yeah, my drivetrain is way cleaner now.

How often do you have to reapply the wax drip compared to spraying lube?
