Serious question, do you replace cables and housing by the seasons or just wait until they snap?
I've been going back and forth on this since last summer when a rusty shift cable snapped on me mid-ride through a rainstorm in Portland. My buddy swears by swapping everything every 6 months like clockwork, but our shop's old timer says that's just throwing money at parts that still have life left. Which side do you guys lean on for commuter bikes that see daily use?

...and the old timer is right on this one. People treat bikes like their cars now. Replace everything on a schedule. But most of that stuff is fine until it isn't.
