Honestly that's the most frustrating thing about working on bikes. You chase this weird complicated problem for hours thinking it's some rare defect or worn out component, but then it's just some tiny cheap part being dumb. Ngl it happens in all sorts of stuff too, not just bikes. Like with electronics it's almost always a loose cable or bad connection before anything else. Tbh I bet half the time people replace expensive parts or call a mechanic they could've fixed it with a closer look at the simple stuff. It's like life in general the obvious answer is usually right there but you overthink it.
