Wait, did you actually try to take a cotter pin out of a castle nut with just your fingers or something? I mean, I’ve seen people use screwdrivers and pliers and still manage to mess it up because they were in a hurry. The real trick is to bend the prongs carefully with a proper set of needlenose pliers so they don’t snap off halfway through. And if you’re working on something important like a trailer hitch, please don’t use a rusty old pin you found on the ground. A fresh cotter pin is like two bucks and it’ll save you from a tow bill or worse. idk, maybe I’m just overly careful from working on farm equipment, but that little piece of wire has saved my butt more times than I can count.
