That customer who argued about chain wear for 20 minutes finally made me see something

Guy from Oak Park brings in a bike with a stretched chain, I show him the wear gauge reading .75, and he starts telling me how his old shop in Chicago never replaced chains until they snapped - has anyone else had a customer who thought they knew better and actually taught you something new about your own trade?
