Tried wet sanding vs dry sanding on a old steel frame repaint

I've been refinishing this 1970s Schwinn frame for a customer and tried wet sanding the primer instead of my usual dry method. The wet sanding gave a way smoother finish with way less clogged paper. I used 400 grit on both and the difference in the final paint was night and day. No dust flying around either which made a mess in the garage. Has anyone else switched to wet sanding for frame prep or am I overthinking this?

Oh man I'm gonna be the weirdo here but I actually hate wet sanding on frames. You gotta be so careful about water getting into the joints and causing rust from the inside out. I've seen too many frames rot from the inside because someone didn't dry them properly after wet sanding primer.

Wet sanding is how I hide from my dusty garage problems.
