Vent: Paid $120 for a bottom bracket tool I barely used

I bought the Park Tool BBT-69 for a Campagnolo crank swap last month and then my friend shows up with the same tool he got for free from a shop. Anyone else have luck borrowing specialty tools from local bike co-ops instead of buying?

Honestly that's rough timing but $120 for a tool you'll keep using is not the end of the world lol. Bike co-ops are hit or miss half the time they don't even have the right Campy tools or they're all greasy and worn out. Plus borrowing from a shop usually means you gotta drive across town during their weird hours. I'd just keep the tool and call it a day.

Woah, I gotta push back a little here. $120 stings for a single tool even if you'll use it again, especially when you're already dropping cash on the bike itself. I've actually had good luck at my local co-op for weird stuff like Campy bottom bracket tools, they had a beat up one that worked fine for my build. Borrowing from a shop can be a hassle with the hours thing though, I'll give you that (my guy is only open Tuesday and Thursday mornings which is insane). Still, I'd rather deal with the drive than eat $120 on something I might use twice a year.
