Binged 'Dark' in German with subs vs dubs - big difference?

Watched the whole show in German with subtitles first time, felt super immersive. Then a friend watched the dubbed version and said I missed a lot of the performances - does the voice acting ruin the tone or make it easier to follow? Which side are you on?

Subs all the way, the original voice acting carries the vibe way better.

Gotta disagree on that one, lol. I actually watch both sub and dub for different reasons, but what I never see people talk about is how bad the lip flap is in dubs. When the mouth movements don't match at all, it throws me off way more than reading subs ever could. The original voice actors definitely bring a raw emotion that the localization teams can't always capture, even with the best talent.
