Friend told me I was choosing the wrong shows and it wrecked my system
I used to just pick whatever was popular on Netflix and power through it, no matter how slow. My buddy Mike finally called me out and said I was wasting time on stuff with terrible pacing. He pointed out I dropped on episode 3 of Dark Matter even though everyone loved it, just because the first two episodes dragged. Now I actually check if a show has good reviews for its middle episodes before I commit. Anybody else have a friend who ruined your binge routine by being too honest?

Is it really that deep though? Like, you dropped a show after two episodes, big deal. Maybe Mike needs to mind his own queue instead of policing yours.

It's funny how one honest friend can just flip a switch in your head like that. I've noticed this same pattern in how people pick restaurants too, not just shows. Everyone heads to the place with the longest line or the best Yelp score, but nobody asks the locals if the food is actually good all the way through the menu. In my experience, a lot of popular stuff is popular because it's comfortable and easy to find, not because it's actually worth your time. Your buddy Mike did you a solid by pointing out that middle episodes are the real test of a show's quality, kind of like how the second visit to a restaurant tells you if they're consistent or just had a lucky night.
