Got food poisoning from gas station sushi and now I can't watch cooking shows without feeling sick
This is so dumb but I need to vent. Two months ago I grabbed a California roll from a gas station outside of Reno on a road trip. Worst mistake of my life. Spent 14 hours puking and now every time I try to watch a cooking show, even the nice ones on Netflix, my stomach just flips. My girlfriend is binge watching the new season of some baking show and I literally had to leave the room. Anyone else get a weird food aversion from a bad experience and figure out how to get past it? I miss watching my shows.
The "even the nice ones on Netflix" part got me because that was exactly my problem. I got wrecked by a bad oyster years ago and for like six months I couldn't do any food TV at all. What worked for me was starting with stuff that had nothing to do with what made me sick. Baking shows were fine at first because my brain didn't connect cookies to oysters. Then I slowly moved back to savory stuff, but only while eating something plain like toast, so my stomach had a job to do besides panic. Took a few months but I watch everything again now. Your girlfriend owes you snacks for this by the way.
