Hot take: some people really don't get why we binge shows at all

My coworker Dave told me last Thursday that watching more than one episode of a show in a sitting is 'wasting time'. I asked him how many seasons of Breaking Bad he's seen and he said zero. Like, how can you even have an opinion on this if you've never done it?

I mean, maybe Dave has a point though. Binge watching kinda makes the whole thing blur together and you don't really appreciate the details or the pacing of each episode. Like reading one chapter at a time lets you sit with it and think about what happened.

Wait, does Dave just sit there and watch one episode then instantly turn off the TV? Like does he not get invested in the story? I remember when my husband and I started watching The Wire years ago, we told ourselves just one episode a night and by episode 3 we were staying up until 2am because we had to know what happened with Omar and Stringer. Binge watching is just wanting to stay in that world for a little longer, like when you go to a restaurant and the food is so good you order another course even though you're full. Dave probably thinks reading one chapter of a book and then stopping for a week is the proper way to do it too.
