I gave up on 'The Last of Us' after the first episode, but my wife convinced me to try again.

She said the second episode was where it really clicked for her, so I watched it last weekend. The scene with the old couple in the suburbs completely changed my mind about the whole show. Has anyone else had a show that needed a second chance to get good?

That scene really was a turning point, wasn't it? Makes you wonder how many great shows get written off because the pilot doesn't hook people right away. What was it about that specific moment that finally made the show work for you?

My buddy jade32 had the same exact reaction to that Jane scene. It's the first time Walt isn't just a sad guy in bad luck, he makes a cold choice to save his own skin. You realize the show isn't about a teacher making meth, it's about watching a man's soul get traded piece by piece. How many people quit before their own "Jane dies" moment?

Honestly my friend almost did the same thing with Breaking Bad. He watched the first two episodes and said it was just too slow, all that stuff with the RV in the desert. But his brother, kind of like what ryanprice was saying, told him to stick it out until the end of the first season. He finally did and called me after that episode where Walt lets Jane die. He was just like, "Okay, I get it now." That one choice made him see the whole show in a different light.
