I got way too into a show while waiting at the DMV
Honestly, I was stuck at the DMV in Phoenix for like 2 hours last Tuesday. I started the first episode of 'The Good Place' on my phone just to kill time. Ngl, I got so hooked I completely missed my number being called three times. The lady at the counter finally had to come over and tap my shoulder, and I jumped a foot in the air. Now I always download a few episodes before any long wait, just in case. Has anyone else gotten in trouble for binging at a really bad moment?

Come on, it's just a TV show. You didn't get in any real trouble, you just got a little startled. It's not like they threw you out for it.

Man my buddy once jumped so bad at a movie he spilled his entire soda. All over the guy in front of him. Had to apologize while soaked in sticky Coke. The whole row was just staring. He still gets teased about it years later. So yeah, public startles can definitely leave a mark.
