I thought 'The Bear' was just another food show until my brother made me watch it

He kept saying it was about stress and family, not cooking, and after the first two episodes I got it. The scene where Carmy has a panic attack in the walk-in fridge felt way too real, like my old job at a diner in Philly. I binged the whole first season in one night and now I'm hooked. Anyone else get totally pulled in by a show they thought they'd hate?

Yeah that walk-in fridge scene got me too, it was so real. My friend had to talk me into watching it and then I did the same thing, just burned through the whole season.

Honestly found that scene pretty over the top. The whole show felt like it was trying too hard to be deep.

Remembered my buddy watching that exact scene and just freezing. He paused it, got up, and walked into his own kitchen. Stood there staring at his fridge for a solid minute, not even opening it. Said it hit way too close to home, like seeing his own dumb fights with his wife play out on screen. He finished the whole show in one sitting after that.
