My brother in law said skip season 1 of The Wire, I'm 4 episodes in and confused
He swore the first season was slow and to just jump to season 2 when I visited him in Denver over Memorial Day. So I skipped ahead like he told me and I have no clue who half these dock workers are or why I should care. Did anyone else get bad advice like this and go back to fix it, or did you just push through?

Sounds like your brother in law skipped season 1 himself and just faked it.

Wait, your brother in law told you to skip season 1 of The Wire?? That is insane to me because season 1 is literally where you meet Stringer Bell and Omar, two of the best characters on TV ever. I can't believe someone who watched the show would say that, the dock stuff in season 2 only lands if you already know the Barksdale crew from season 1. Honestly just go back and restart from episode 1, it's worth it.
