My buddy said I only liked flashy sci-fi shows and it made me rewatch something from 1995

He pointed out every new show I binged was all big explosions and dramatic twists, so I sat down and watched the entire run of Sliders (the first three seasons anyway) and realized he was right about missing the slower character stuff, has anyone else had someone call out your taste and it actually made you like different shows?

Man I was just reading this article about how streaming algorithms trap you in a loop of high stakes shows because they keep recommending stuff based on your last watch. That Sliders callout is brutal but fair, those early seasons had real weight to them, the characters actually had to sit and think about their place in the multiverse instead of just running from explosions. Did rewatching it change what you look for in a show now?
