The Bear is overhyped compared to The Sopranos for family drama done right

After binging both back to back last month, The Sopranos handles the chaos of family and work way better without The Bear's constant anxiety attacks and flashy editing tricks, am I the only one who thinks Tony's kitchen table arguments beat Carmy's walk-in cooler meltdowns every time?

Gotta say I came into The Bear thinking it was untouchable, but after rewatching The Sopranos kitchen table scenes you're totally right. Tony's arguments with Carmela about the kids or his mother feel real and raw without needing a sweaty panic attack every five minutes. The Bear has Carmy screaming in a cooler and it's good TV, but it's exhausting and kind of manipulative after a while. Sopranos lets the tension build slowly through dialogue and you actually feel the weight of family drama instead of just getting hit with anxiety attacks over a broken tomato can.

Whoa, Beth, you're really making me think here. I remember watching The Bear with my uncle and he kept muttering about how a broken tomato can was not that big a deal, and I felt like I was missing something. But you nailed it with the Sopranos comparison because those kitchen table scenes with Tony and Carmela feel so real, like you're sitting right there with them. My favorite is when they're fighting about Meadow's college and Carmela just stares at him, and the silence says more than any screaming fit. The Bear's anxiety is like a roller coaster that never lets you off, and after a while you just want to pull over and breathe.
