TIL about the 90s show that started the 24 hour race format
I was reading an article online about how "24" changed TV forever with that real time gimmick. It got me thinking about how shows used to just run episodes whenever with no big hooks. My dad still talks about watching "Dallas" on Friday nights with no way to catch up. Has anyone here ever tried going back and watching old classics like that without the modern binge format?

Real time" was cool but I actually think "24" made TV worse for plot holes.

Jack Bauer literally surviving a nuclear bomb at close range in season 2 and then being fine by the next episode. Honestly, plot holes are just kind of part of the fun with that show, not a sign it "made TV worse." Like, did we forget that 24 also gave us the real-time ticking clock gimmick that made regular dramas feel slow by comparison? Tbh, people acting like a cheesy action show from 20 years ago ruined the entire medium need to relax a little.
