Went to a hotel bar in Chicago and saw something weird with the TV shows

I was at The Drake last week for a work thing and ended up in the bar. They had about ten TVs on, all on different channels. What got me was that every single one was playing a show from the 2010s. Not new stuff, not sports, but old binge shows like 'Breaking Bad', 'Mad Men', and 'The Office'. The bartender said they just leave it on a classic TV channel that runs them all day. It made me think about how those shows from ten plus years ago are still the default background noise in so many places. They're comfort food now, the kind of thing you can drop into any episode. It feels like we're in a weird spot where new shows come and go so fast, but the real binge anchors are getting older. Has anyone else noticed a place that only plays older series like that?

Nah, I see new stuff everywhere now. My gym only plays those loud reality competition shows from the last couple years.

My old yoga studio had Love Island on every single screen for three months straight. I started timing my downward dog to avoid the awkward kissing noises. It got so bad I switched to a place with no TVs at all. Honestly, those shows just make public spaces feel like a waiting room. I miss when places just played the news with the sound off.
