Appreciation post for buying cheap tongs... then losing $80

I grabbed a set of three tongs off Amazon for $30. Thought I was being smart saving money. After three heats, the rivet on one came loose and my workpiece dropped into the forge. Had to fish it out with a shovel and ruined the piece. Has anyone else lost money on cheap tools like that?

Paid $30 for a set of tongs and ended up spending $80 to replace a ruined workpiece. Real smooth move on my part.

Ah man, that's rough! I've definitely been there where trying to save a few bucks ends up costing way more in the long run. Hope the next set works out better for you.
