Bent a crowbar cold in my vice last week and it snapped like a pencil
I tried straightening a buddy's old wrecking bar in my bench vice without warming it up first, and it popped at the bend after maybe 30 seconds of steady pressure. I figured it was mild steel like the cheap ones at the hardware store in Canton, but that break had a shiny grain that says it was hardened. How do you all sort out mystery scrap steel before you put a load on it?
