Cracked my first tongs rivet on a 3/4 inch billet last Tuesday, need a fix
Was drawing out a piece for a fire poker and the rivet just sheared right off, tongs are useless now. Should I try peening a new rivet myself or is it worth taking them to the guy over in Glenwood?
Did you ever try fixing something small and end up making a whole day of it? I broke a rivet on my grandpa's old nippers last winter and figured I'd just tap a new one in, easy right? Two hours later I had the whole joint apart, found the reins were cracked too, and somehow ended up redoing both handles. By the time I was done I'd spent more time on those nippers than the whole fence project I needed them for. Sometimes the small fix turns into a bigger job once you get in there. If the tongs mean something to you, just take them to Glenwood.
