Dropped $60 on a Mr. Volcano forge liner kit and it cracked on the third firing
I heat my shop with a Mr. Volcano single burner and figured I would upgrade the liner after reading a few posts on here, so I ordered the kit off Amazon for around $60 in January. I followed the cure instructions to the letter, but after three firings at forge temp the coating spiderwebbed and a chunk the size of a quarter popped off near the burner port. Has anyone here had luck with a homemade refractory mix instead, or is it worth just paying for the pre-cast liners from a ceramics supplier?
