Finally tried a proper rounding hammer after years with a cross peen

I've been using the same 2.5 lb cross peen from a starter kit for about four years now, mostly for general forging. A friend in the guild let me borrow his German-style rounding hammer last month, and the difference moving metal is crazy. The rounded face just seems to push material exactly where you want it with way less effort, especially when drawing out a taper. I'm honestly a bit annoyed I waited this long to try one. For those who made the switch, did you find a certain weight that became your go-to for most work?

A guy at the last hammer-in said the same thing about his rounding hammer. He uses a 3-pounder for almost everything now.

My 2.5 pound rounding hammer completely changed how I work on scrolls.
