Forge broke down on a Tuesday right before a big order
I was 20 minutes into a 50-knife batch for a local restaurant when my blower died, and I spent the whole day scrounging for a replacement. Has anyone else had a mid-project equipment failure throw off their whole week?

and the weird thing nobody talks about is how these failures actually force you to refine your process. I had a press die crack once mid-run on a set of chef knives. Spent a whole weekend rebuilding it from scratch, but that redesign ended up cutting my production time by nearly 30% after that. Not saying it's fun, but sometimes the forced slowdown lets you spot the bottlenecks you've been ignoring.

Your 30% time cut after the press die cracked is impressive, but how long did it take you to actually see those gains in the workflow? I wonder if the initial redesign phase just masked a temporary slowdown that only looked like an improvement later. What kind of tracking did you use to prove it wasn't just a fluke from a different batch size?
