Rant: Overheard a guy at the scrap yard say he never wears gloves while grinding.
Honestly, he was bragging about the 'feel' and said he's never had a serious injury in 15 years. Ngl, it made me think about how dangerous that kind of talk is for new smiths who might copy it. What's the worst grinder mishap you've seen or heard about?

tessap98's comment about the fingerprint scanner got me. I had a buddy who thought he was invincible too, and one slip with a cutoff wheel turned his thumb into something that looked like ground beef. He spent the next month explaining to everyone why he couldn't flip them off properly anymore.

Yeah that's a scary mindset to brag about. Got a nasty gash from a wire wheel once, and that was WITH gloves on. Now I just won't touch a grinder without the thickest leather ones I could find.

Buddy of mine tried that "no gloves" thing once. Let's just say his fingerprint scanner doesn't work on that hand anymore.
