Switched from a coal forge to propane and I'm not looking back

After 6 years of messing with coal I finally picked up a used propane forge off a guy in Ohio last month. The temperature control is way easier and I don't spend half my time adjusting the fire or dealing with clinkers. My weld quality got better almost overnight since I can hold a steady heat. Has anyone else made the switch and found it changed how they work?

Propane's great for heating, but you can't actually weld with it, @xenar14. You need acetylene or another fuel gas that burns hot enough to melt the base metal. Propane works for brazing and soldering, where you're just melting a filler rod. The cleaner result you're seeing is probably from a better torch setup or more practice, not the propane itself.
