The day my forge drain plugged up mid-demo

I was showing a group of kids at the county fair how to make coat hooks. Right in the middle of explaining why you quench in oil not water, the drain on my drum forge backed up and water started creeping across the floor. I had to stop everything, grab a wet vac from my truck, and spend 15 minutes digging rust chunks out of the pipe. The kids thought it was hilarious. Has anyone else had a forge drainage system fail at the worst possible time?

Is it just me or does everything mechanical in life seem to have a sense of humor about timing? I swear my truck knows when I'm already late and picks that exact second to start making a weird noise. Your forge drain backed up right when you were trying to look professional in front of a bunch of kids, which is exactly what my lawnmower does when the neighbors are watching - it'll start smoking and clanking like it's about to explode. Same thing with my laptop, it waits until I'm on an important video call to do a system update and freeze up. It's like everything we own secretly wants to humble us in public.

@emma522 totally right - my thermostat glitched out the one time my in-laws visited.
