Appreciation post for painter's tape after 8 years of messy edges
I only just figured out last month that I was supposed to press the edges down firmly before painting. My hallway has had wobbly lines for 8 years because I was just slapping the tape on loose. Has anyone else had a dumb moment like that with a simple tool?

I once taped off a room with duct tape because I ran out of painter's tape.

@webb.jordan come on now. Duct tape leaves that sticky residue behind that's a nightmare to clean off walls. Painter's tape is designed to come off clean for a reason. You're making way more work for yourself later when you have to scrub that gunk off with Goo Gone or whatever. It's not like the duct tape even saves you money since you'll probably need to repaint those spots anyway. Honestly just seems like a small thing but it adds up to a bigger headache than people expect.
